GLOBAL WARMING I
• Global warming is a direct result of
changes in radiative forcing. The r.f. is a sum of direct effects such as the enhanced
greenhouse effect + increased aerosol loads, and indirect effects such as increased cloud cover (a secondary effect from changes in the geochemical reservoirs).
• The effect of aerosol particles and
cloud cover is not to alter the greenhouse
effect but to change the amount of radiation
incident at the surface.
The particles simply increase the amount of solar radiation reflected back to space.
