PLANNING
• Acid sulphate problems need to be identified during the planning stage before any work on a site has commenced.
Acid sulphate soils can impact on:
• engineering and landscaping works
 – concrete, steel, embankments & drains.
• agricultural practices
 – suitable crops, liming, fertilizers & drains.
• environmental quality
– soil quality, surface & groundwater quality
• The Waste Acid Soils Management Policy (Vic) defines waste acid sulphate soils based on chemical analysis and soil texture.
