SICK BUILDING SYNDROME
v Building materials: formaldehyde is one of the VOCs that is commonly used in resin composites : particle boards, fabrics, plastics, Urea-Formaldehyde (UF) foams. 
• In the workplace personal samplers are   
 now used to monitor problem gases.
• TLV are used to set acceptable levels.
• High levels of formaldehyde and other VOC
gases such as phenol are typically associated with SBS. The syndrome produces symptoms such as skin irritations, dizziness, headaches, nausea ….
• Careful choice of materials is the solution.
