CH3041
MODE OF ACTION
• The toxicant is often
modified in the kinetic
phase to produce
metabolites which may
be more or less active
than the toxicant.
• If a toxicant acts as a systemic poison it
will usually interact with a receptor resulting
in a modified receptor which produces a
biochemical effect eg. enzyme inhibition
• Following this there are physiological
effects and /or behavioural effects.
eg. CNS convulsions
