KINETICS & DYNAMCS
• Toxicokinetics : the quantification of the
course of absorption, distribution, bio-transformation and excretion of a toxicant.
The study of the input, output and movement of a toxicant through the body.
• Toxicodynamics : the study of the toxic
response of the organism involving primary
reaction at the receptor, biochemical response and then observable effects.
• Receptor site : a part of a macromolecule designed to accept a target molecule.
Some toxic effects occur by interaction of
the toxicant with a receptor site.
    eg. CO reacts with haemoglobin.
