MATC,NOAEL,ADI,TLV,STEL
• The NOAEL is the No Observed Adverse
Effect Level for a substance which is the
dose where the body can dispose of the
chemical safely – not the threshold level.
• LOAEL lowest observed adverse effect level
• Maximum Acceptable Toxic Concentration
           MATC = (NOAEL + LOAEL) / 2
   - this is around the threshold value
• With an estimate of exposure (area, conc., duratn, frequency, input rate, total exp. time)
& the MATC it is possible to estimate the:
  ADI (Average Daily Intake) and the
  TLV (Threshold Limit Value) of the toxicant.
  STEL (Short Term Exposure Limit). The maximum concentration that employees can be exposed to over a specific time period (15 min) no more than 4 times per day.
