CLASSICAL METHODS
Volumetric Analysis or Titrimetric Analysis
• This methodology is still used in most analytical laboratories testing water & soils.
• It is labour intensive and quite cheap.
• The only change over CH1011 titrations is
that magnetic stirring is used invariably.
• Reliability relies on (i) the accuracy of the conc. in the burette & (ii) the talented user.
• Primary standard: a reagent (> 99.9% pure) is weighed and used to prepare the 1o standard solution of known concentration.
     eg. potassium hydrogen phthalate.
