to accumulate in fatty tissues.
• A low solubility
non-polar
organic will have a high
KOW and generally a high
BioConcentration Factor (BCF).
BCF = [organism]/ [water]
• Given the same functional groups a molecule with higher
M.W. will be less H2O
soluble and hence will have a higher BCF.
Reconcentration - small high surface
area sediment particles will physisorb large quantities of insoluble organic material.
