• To work out where a chemical is likely to
be found in the environment its physico-chemical properties need to be looked at.
• Sources of information include:
  MSDS, CRC-Rubber Handbook, Gmelin,
  Chemical Abstracts (SciFinder Scholar)
• Information to be looked at includes:
state, mp., bp., pvap, KSP, KOW, KH, Eo1/2, LC50...
• Sources of chemicals into the
 environment include:
 Point sources       eg.  sewerage discharge
 Diffuse sources    eg. NO3- fertiliser run-off
