THE AIM
• The aim of a chemical analysis is generally to quantify the presence of either:
a) a natural chemical, to confirm a natural
level or determine an un-natural level
b) to identify a foreign chemical which has
    been introduced into the environment.
• The first step in an environmental analysis is sample collection.
• To collect representative samples background information must be collected on the physical environment and any interactions with biotic life that may influence the chemical analysis.
