QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS
Some terminology
• Matrix: everything in the
  sample except the analyte.
• Analyte: measured species
  in a chemical analysis.
• Matrix effect:change in
  analytical response due to the
  matrix rather than the analyte.
• Dilution factor:   [final] = Vi / Vf  x [initial]
   where Vf = Vi + Vadded            D.F. = Vi / Vf
• Interference: spectral = signal overlap
                        chemical = reduces real signal
• Accuracy : difference between the
    measured value and the true value.
• Precision : the size of the random error.
