BIOGEOCHEMICAL CYCLES
• We have now dealt
in a general manner with the
chemistry of the atmosphere, hydrosphere,
geosphere and the interfaces
between them.
• All elements move through the biosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, geosphere in
the biogeochemical cycles.
• Each element has a cycle with distinct characteristics due to the chemistry and physical properties of the element.
• We will focus on
a few important examples (N,
P, S) that illustrate the key features of such cycles.
