SOIL CHEMISTRY III
• Rainwater percolates thru the topsoil carrying dissolved & colloidal material to the subsoil where it is deposited.
• Also carried are carbonic acid, organic acids & complexing compounds (eg. oxalate) that alter 1o mineral composition.
• Soil chemistry focuses on identifying the chemical composition of the soil horizons and understanding the chemical processes responsible for the weathering  and transformation  of the parent & organic materials to form the soil.
