LATERITE: Refers to a soil profile
with horizon/s rich in iron oxides. This is usually
associated with deeply weathered profiles. warm, wet climate.
KRASNOZEM: These soils are typically
red, deep, well-structured, acid and porous soils.
They have relatively high clay contents and tend to display a gradual increase in clay with depth
Plagioclase feldspar minerals are amongst the most common of the
rock-forming minerals. A continuous series.
High-T plagioclase occurs only in some volcanic
rocks, whereas the low-T albite-anorthite series are
found in most igneous rocks. Plagioclase compositions are commonly expressed in
terms of the 2 end-members albite (NaAlSi3O8) and
anorthite (CaAl2Si2O8).
