ORGANOMETALLIC CMPDS
• Organometallics
• A compound with at least one metal-C bond is called an organometallic compound.
• Magnesium is attacked by alkyl and aryl halides (RX) in solvents such as diethyl ether to yield organomagnesium compounds called Grignard reagents:
   RX        +   Mg        ®          R - Mg - X
(eg. MeBr)               ether      (eg. MeMgBr)
These are probably the most widely used of all organometallic compounds.
• used in the synthesis of [(n-Bu3Sn)2O,
  TBTO] fungicides and boat antifoulants.
