Hint 7-32

Consider what the principal quantum number  n determines.  The difference in energy is determined by
where the electron starts and where it ends up in it's position from the nucleus.
The energy is determined by the electrostatic attraction of the electron to the nuclear positive charge;
the closer the electron is to the nucleus the more stable the atom is and the lower the energy.
An excited state of the atom means a higher energy state of the atom.
