2. Lyophilic           (in H2O hydrophilic)
• 1 phase macromolecular colloidal system
• absence of surfaces between the disperse phase and the dispersion medium
• particles are in true solution but the size of the solute particles (macromolecules) means that these are colloidal solutions
• the solution forms spontaneously from the components, is thermodynamically stable.
