STERIC STABILISATION
Polymer molecules may adsorb on the surface of lyophobic colloid particles.
• If the polymer coat surrounding a particle is dense enough then significant repulsive interactions will occur with the polymer coat on a colliding particle ® Steric Stabilisation
• The rep. interactions prevent flocculation
