POLYMERS
• Two major divisions of polymers exist :
(1) Biopolymers (carbohydrates, proteins…)
(2) Synthetic polymers (rubber, nylon…)
• There are 2 main synthetic routes:
(i) Addition polymers (polyethylene)
(ii) Condensation polymers (nylon)
In each case a large number of simple
  monomer
  units are
  joined to
  form the
 polymer.
