Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy
• IR and UV spectroscopy give information only about fragments of a molecule
ie. the functionals groups & any conjugated
p systems present.
• By contrast NMR spectroscopy provides a map of the carbon framework of a molecule and the attached hydrogen atoms.
