Properties of Optical Isomers:
• The relative arrangements of the atoms in the molecule is
the same in each of the optical isomers (they
are just mirror images)
• The physical and chemical properties of
enantiomers (optical isomers) will therefore be essentially
identical - unless the environment is chiral.
• Separation of optical isomers involves chromatography
using chiral resolving agents or fractional crystallization.
