Reactivity:
The least active metals may
be found in the free elemental state
(eg. Au, Ag, Pt) as they are easily reduced and difficult to oxidise.
•The more
active metals (eg.
Al, Ca, Na) will always be found in compounds as they will be oxidised and found in combination with other (non-metallic) elements.
• These elements
will always require reduction to obtain the metal from the ore.
